First Public Holiday Fair

Nervous and stressed out was all I felt for the past couple weeks before my show.  I only got 2 hours of sleep the night before the big day.  There were just so much to do!  Now I can finally say, Thank God it's OVER!  I slept for 12 hours straight that night!

Can you tell I looked tired?!  ...don't look too close!

  5. Oh my goodness just beautiful! Love the layout so organized and colorful! The beautiful packaging and ribbons so nice! The individual cards are such a good idea.

Are the ingredients on each bar, or just the card?

  6. @ Pam, both on cards and soap bars. It is easier to show people in big font how the soap looks like inside the package and the ingredients so they don't have to man handle the soap as much. All they need to do is, look at the photo, like it, pick it up and sniff.

  10. Beautiful display. Can you tell me what kind of paper you are wrapping your soap in? I was under the impression that I should not wrap cold process soap because it would cause water to collect on the soap and go rancid. Is that true?

    1. I wrap my soap in pastry tissue paper, the kind made with dry wax, very thin and semi transparent. People can still smell the soap, it's breathable. Rancidity is not caused by water, it's caused by oxidation. Oil and butter go rancid naturally, they all have different shelf life, the more saturated fat the longer the shelf life. If your soap is made with oil that's fresh it should not go rancid unless you do very high lye discount (or superfat). Once you open your sealed oil or butter, it starts to react with the air and oxidation process starts. I use ROE (rosemary oleoresin extract) to slow down the oxidation to prolong the shelf life. But all oil and butter eventually go rancid.
