Mermaid's Tear

This is the FIRST time I actually achieved beautiful delicate hanger swirl with soap that's over traced!  I'm so happy with what I got, it's as precious as a Mermaid's Tear!
This batch is scented with an aquatic spa like fragrance notes of tarragon leaves, bergamot and citrus, light floral of jasmine and lotus blossom, and all rounded up with bamboo and oakmoss.  The sparkles and tiny sugar pearls add that perfect finishing touch on the top.

    1. Carrie, the trick is to have your soap batter thin trace only and keep the color portions small, a little goes a long way works here. Then use a hanger to swirl it inside.

  10. I cannot stop stearing at this soap and thinking of way it's made.
I love everything you have made, but now I'm puzzled with this one,so had to simply ask.
Do you pour the colours (or coloured portions) together, over the whole batch,or....what,how,where?
I know it's bit hard to explain and even harder for me to understand this way,but I had to try.

I've been making soap for a few months now,and never have made just a simple plain soap. Not even the first one. Always look for something different and exciting, what this soap really is.
Hopefully you will reply, but I will keep reading your blog no matter what.
Best regards and keep that way (inspiring me)!

    1. I'll try my best to explain. This is so call the hanger swirl. I made most of the batch white then just poured out a very small portion for blue and green. I poured a big portion of white in the mold, then poured some blue and some green from high up in a thin string down penetrating the white. Poured some more white into the mold again, not high, just regular pouring. Then repeat the blue and the green. The higher you pour the color soap the deeper it penetrates the base color. I topped off with the remaining white, took my hanger and dipped it down length wise and randomly swirl up and down left and right, and even sometimes circular. Then scrapped off the remaining blue and green to drip on the very top of the log, took a spoon to peek the top. Sprinkled some sugar pearls and done.

  11. I'll try that way,but god knows what mine will look like.
    Thank you for sharing!
My deep admiration goes to 'Golf face',as well, I reckon the same 'hanger' technique was applied.
You should put as subtitle of your blog 'Creating the art'

    1. I was at this potery painting party once and I wanted to do spattering. I asked the store manager how to spatter with tools like tooth brush and paint brushes to form the pattern I wanted. The manager answered very wisely, she said, so you are asking me how to control randomness?! If it's the random you want, how can you control it? If you do, it is not random, so just do it and not to think too much.
Smart woman! I guess this totally applies to this type of hanger swirl. It will definitely look random and different every single time, but that is the beauty of it, so better embrace it instead of trying so hard to alter it.

    2. I want to learn the technique and get some routine in handling 'hanger'. When I do,i'll know what cannot expect.
Instead, I ended up with fast setting up tonight due to f.o. Not giving up on trying, tomorrow is a new day!

    3. My 'hanger' were two (plastic, drinking) straws with Chinese sticks threaded through and broken and bent at desirable points.
      It worked great,but didn't help :(
